Phillippe Holmes ::: GUITAR :::
Jun 21 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Phillipe Holmes

Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Philippe Holmes grew up in Washington D.C. and attended Georgetown and George Washington Universities. He has composed, performed and produced music ranging from classical to hip-hop since the age of sixteen. Having led bands on both coasts through his twenties, in 2004 he moved to the small village of Monticello, New Mexico and immersed himself in the repertoire of Andrès Segovia. Most recently, he spent seven years in his mother’s native country of France, where he gave solo classical guitar recitals in churches and collaborated on projects including Romanian music and contemporary pop/rock. Philippe’s guitar technique is informed by his early interest in blues finger-picking and recent exposure to gypsy culture in French Catalonia. Whether interpreting works of J.S. Bach or modern Latin American composers, he seeks the through-line that makes a piece pertinent to listeners of all ages and interests.

Well Dressed Wolves
Jun 23 @ 9:00 pm – Jun 24 @ 12:00 am

Well dressed wolves band

Well Dressed Wolves (formerly known as ‘The Mods’) are rock group, based out of Phoenix, AZ. The band consists of Travis Eaton (guitar, vocals), Louis Occhiline (bass, vocals), & Gabe Rhodes (drums, vocals).

Travis Eaton, Guitarist and vocalist, began playing music around the age of four. Originally inspired by country music, he was exposed to rock ‘n’ roll after hearing Creedence Clearwater Revival. Then he heard the Beatles for the first time, and made the decision to pursue rock and roll music. When he was ten, as a tribute to the Beatles, he began performing in a band called the Moptops. He later joined a local rock band called Recall, where he met drummer Gabriel Rhodes

Gabriel Rhodes has been playing drums for approximately 26 years. He is the son of Arizona Blues Hall of Famer Danny Rhodes and has played with over 50 artists. In 2004, after having exhausted many musical ventures, Eaton and Rhodes began playing with a friend of Eaton, Louis Occhiline.

Louis Occhiline was born into a large musical family. He started playing the bass at seventeen. There had been a shortage of bassists, so he learned the basics of the instrument which led to the formation of Frequency Response a band formed by Eaton & Occhilline while still in high school. The band split in early 2004, but during this time Occhiline developed his musical style by tapping into the bass styles of Jack Bruce of Cream, John Entwistle of The Who and Paul McCartney to his own.

The band officially formed in the summer of 2004. They quickly found a chemistry that had been lacking in their previous bands. They were united by the influences of ’60s rock as well as the ’90s alternative.

Since then, the band has been hard at work, playing many shows all over AZ, most notably in the Northern AZ region. Since 2013, the band has been travelling up to Sturgis, SD every year to play the world’s biggest biker rally at the legendary Buffalo Chip.

2015 saw the release of the band’s first EP, “Keep Calm, Roll On.” The EP includes all original music.

New recordings and a tour are currently in the works for the end of 2017 early 2018.

The band will be changing their name from ‘The Mods’ to Well Dressed Wolves. For 13 years since their formation, the band has been known as ‘The Mods.’ However, as a result of legalities and copyrights linked to “The Mods” namesake, the band will be changing the band name. They played their first show as ‘Well Dressed Wolves’ on Sept. 9th 2017 .

Darius Lux

Darius Lux

When singer/songwriter Darius Lux left the confines of New York City to travel the globe for a year, he didn’t fully comprehend the life changing pilgrimage he was about to embark upon.

A multi-instrumentalist, a producer, and a performer came back as a free-thinker, a philosopher, and an inspirational lyricist. Combining his appreciation of 60s songwriting, 70s soul, 80s pop and 90s hip-hop into a current mix of soulful, rock-edged pop tunes, Darius Lux found his voice on his debut record “Arise”. He now takes us and his band to the streets of LA for his new EP, “Time is Now.”

Darius’ music is a statement describing how we can take control of our lives. “For each one of us, life can be full of different fears, but we have to remember that fear is a choice. When we decide we don’t want fear and we have chosen to believe in ourselves instead, we find that we begin to receive the things in life we’ve hoped for.”

Darius is currently gigging in Southern California with his band and living his life against the grain – with every spirited note he plays; he urges us to do the same. Take part of Darius’ voyage atwww.DariusLux.com

Al Foul
Jul 13 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm

al foulAdopting a surname from his early days with the Foul Mouthed Elves, Boston’s notorious “drunk rock” band, Al Foul has been making music for over 15 years. Shortly after hitchhiking to Tucson in 1991, he formed Al Foul and the Shakes, who quickly generated an international fanbase and became known for delivering something most rockabilly bands at the time lacked: a raw poise and straightforwardness culled from a punk rock background. With Al at the helm, their songs took on a primitive emotional immediacy, preferring to shine with an inner savagery rather than get by on frills alone.

Now, as a one-man band, Al has been able to focus more on whittling his distinctive songwriting and inimitable style into a sharp point that pokes through the trends and fashions to get at something timeless. All the cuts on this album were recorded live with Al simultaneously singing, playing guitar, and drumming in the basement of producer Naim Amor (www.amormusic.com).

No overdubs or fixes will be heard on here – just the real deal, what you might hear if Al were playing at a party in your living room. The only things added in post-production were the occasional handclaps and a violin in the background of Frankie Lane’s “Wanted Man”. Al’s unmistakable vocals never waver throughout the disc, brilliantly capturing the character of each song with a broad, smooth voice coming from deep inside his beer-soaked guts. Whether it is a desperate love song or the ballad of a troubled troubadour. Al Foul can sing it with a degree of sincerity that cuts to the bone.

the invincible grinsBorn in the Verde Valley of Arizona, The Invincible Grins fuse eclecticism with unbridled enthusiasm, creating a unique and danceable style of sweaty rock and roll. Marrying strong and original songwriting with undeniable groove, the Grins draw inspiration from such artists as Tom Waits, Woody Guthrie, Andrew Bird, Talking Heads, Morphine, and Goran Bregovic, and have also been accused of sounding like “Gogol Bordello meets Fleetwood Mac.” Their music has been described as “funked-up folk”, “Gypsybilly”, and simply, “…like fun!” No matter what moniker is applied, one thing is for sure: The Invincible Grins are upbeat music for a beat up world. They remind you to have a drink and dance. Take it easy. Brace yourself. Everything’s gonna be alright!

Garrick Rawlings

I’m forever chasing striking blends of folk, rock, country, cowboy, jazz, punk, blues in songs I write and perform. Born in Wichita Kansas, mostly raised in Sturgis, Michigan, then Kalamazoo, on to Chicago, too long in Southern CA, & for the time being basing out of Northern Arizona. Began as a hard rock electric guitar player emulating the high energy rock out of Detroit, fell in love with the blues in Chicago. Moved out west to L.A. to play some rock and roll and somehow became Ramblin’ Jack Elliott’s road manager, opener and sidekick for a while(he duets w/ me on Dollars To Dust). While in L.A. I had the good fortune of getting to know and open shows for world-class songwriters/guitarists Dave Alvin and Rick Shea, two of the best California has to offer.

A Garrick Rawlings show is best described as Neil Young & Johnny Cash meet the MC5 riding horseback through the desert with Ramblin’ Jack and Townes, settlin’ in around the campfire with Woody Guthrie, Led Zeppelin, Tom Russell, John Prine, Guy Clark and a mariachi band.

Over the years, his popularity among professional musicians has resulted in his often being asked to take part in opening act performances for national acts such as John Mayall, J.J. Cale, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bobby Bare, Ed Bruce and Rick Nelson. His past experience playing with country rock, rock & roll, reggae and blues bands, has honed his ability and reputation as a fine multi-genre harp player. One of Luke’s musical influences is Lee Oskar whom he recently had the pleasure of playing with at the Spirit Room in Jerome.

Besides playing music, Luke loves to remodel homes, being in Rocky Point, Mexico whenever possible, and sharing a good laugh whenever possible, something that comes easy when sitting in with Llory and the boys.
